How can we help?

FAQs

General Questions

How quickly can we mobilise support?

Depending on the level of support needed, we can usually mobilise your support within 2-4 weeks.

Who do I contact should we have any teething issues?

We have designated Clinical Service Managers who will be your point of contact with any questions or queries. Our CSM’s are extremely responsive and pride themselves on ensuring our team are seamlessly integrated with your team.

What is the difference between using PCS and other similar companies?

Primary Care Support is a Clinical Service Provider not a locum agency. We provide consistent 52 week a year support by utilising the skills of our professionals to provide efficient and productive support. You will be allocated a designated staff member who will be trained to your individual practice protocols to provide a consistent support. We charge a fixed hourly rate with no additional NI or pension contributions payable and we continue to take care of all the timely HR duties.

Staff Questions

Do we have the same staff member each day?

You will be allocated 2 staff members. One will be your primary support whilst the second staff member will be trained to provide support during any periods of annual leave or sickness. Both staff members will be trained in your current processes to allow for continuous seamless cover.

What do we do when the staff member calls in sick?

The second staff member who was also trained to your processes will step into place. We will make all of these arrangements behind the scenes so there will be no interruption to the service we provide.

Do the clinical teams at the practice’s you support find PCS reduce their workload?

When asked, the practices we support have reported they have seen a significant reduction in their workload when utilising our services.

Do you provide an option to be reimbursed under ARRS fund?

We charge a fixed hourly rate which varies from professional to professional. This hourly rate does not change whether reclaimed under ARRS or not, but we can discuss options of how many PCN’s reclaim our fees back under ARRS.

How long does it take for your team to get up to speed with our processes and reach ideal productivity levels?

We usually recommend a two week pilot when a new site goes live but we usually find that the team have managed to adopt your processes by the end of week 1.

Do we need to carry out 1:1’s, appraisals and Clinical Supervision on the staff provided?

Although we do not charge management fees, all of our staff members remain under the direct instruction of our Clinical Service Managers / Clinical Team Managers. This means that all 1:1’s, appraisals, Clinical Supervision and any training and development needs are managed by us.

Do you manage the productivity of staff?

We have guidelines for the productivity of our team members. Whilst we must empathise that they are guidelines, that are variable from site to site for a number of factors, we have a very good understanding of what our staff can achieve safely in a set period of time. Along with the quality of the support provided, we regularly monitor productivity, which is discussed with the team member at their 1:1’s.

How do you ensure the staff provided are working safely?

We have a robust training and induction programme that all staff must complete when commencing employment with PCS. Once this process is completed a thorough Quality Assurance process is carried out before the staff member is signed off for independent site work. This QA work is repeated periodically for each staff member.
